Jesus In The Pub Meetup Group

JESUS-IN-THE-PUB

'When John came, he fasted and drank no wine, and everyone said, 'He has a demon in him!'
When the Son of Man came, he ate and drank, and everyone said, 'Look at this man! He is a glutton and a drinker, a friend of tax collectors and other outcasts!'
God's wisdom, however, is shown to be true by its results.'
Jesus and Alcohol: Matthew 11:18-19.

Hi. I'm Greg.

I am very spiritual but not religious.
I would like to meet other people who are interested in Jesus.
But, I never go to church.

So, I am starting a Jesus-In-The-Pub group.

This is Jesus for everyone who respects and admires Jesus.

Whether you are religious or not.
Whether you go to church or not.
Whether you are a Christian or not.

Atheists, agnostics, existentialists, polytheists are all welcome.
Jewish people - after all Jesus was a Jew.
Gnostics, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Bahai, . . .
Hindus - I like the way Hinduism has no dogma, apostasy or heresy - have you ever heard of a Hindu heretic?
And, I am an admirer of  Mahatma Gandhi.

Goddess people.
God was a woman until a man changed her mind.
[Think about it – there is some deep thealogy and theology in that one.]

I don't mind what your politics are.
Or, your financial status.
Whether you are female, male or still making up your mind.

So long as you behave in a way that Jesus would approve of.
And, do not try to exploit people.

As Jesus said, kind people go to heaven.
Unkind people, . . . well, . . . let's not think about that just now.
[It's Matthew 25:31-46 if you really want to know.]

SOCIAL MEETINGS

I rarely drink alcohol.
Wine or beer.
But a nice pub can be a nice and inexpensive way to meet people.
To have a pleasant afternoon.

We could have meetings at hotels which have:

1: a good peaceful atmosphere;
2: good vegetarian food;
3: reasonable prices.

And are:

1: suitable for women and children as well as men;
2: near good public transport – like a railway station;
3: near a park, or a beach, if the weather is too good to stay inside.

And, do not have poker machines. [A TAB maybe. If Black Caviar is racing.]

DISCUSSION MEETINGS

Discussion meetings could be on topics including:
[I am also putting these on the DISCUSSIONS page.]

1: Who goes to heaven – and could a good god really send people to hell.
2: How Jesus healed people – a scientific explanation – and how you can heal yourself and others the way Jesus did.
3: Should a man really be the head of the household and not the more competent partner.
4: Is the Holy Spirit Female?
5: Child abuse – theological causes and theological solutions.
6: Circumcision – Moses did not do it – and, why Paul condemned it.
7: Loving yourself and protecting yourself from evil people.
8: Loving god, other people and yourself – without being a doormat.
9: Celibacy and sex.
10: Spirituality versus religion.
11: Escaping codependency with god through the love of Jesus.
12: Separation of Church and State.
13: Muhammad: a false prophet of fear.
14: FGM, female genital mutilation, is blasphemy.
15: Satan - God's enemy? Or, God's informant and enforcer. [Read the Book of JOB.]
16: The scientific basis of magic and miracles.
17: Do animals have souls?
18: Gender equality.
19: What are the differences between religions and cults?
20: God-loving versus god-fearing.
21: Miracles, faith healing and the placebo effect.
22: Reason-based faith.

ABOUT ME

I have a good direct spiritual relationship with Jesus.
I think Jesus is both a good man and a good God.
And, if people did what Jesus said and wanted then the world would be a far better place.

I am very spiritual but not at all religious.
I never go to church.

So I am looking to meet compatible people in a more informal way.

Indeed, in the way Jesus often met people.

People who are:
1: kind, broad-minded, not dogmatic;
2: do not regard women as inferior to men and the source of all evil;
3: people who are pleasant company to have a normal conversation with.

If that is you.
Please join this group.

Kind regards.
Greg.
